Donut Mart Reviews

This place has the feel of a small local business. A lot of people get takeout on their way to someplace else. There is no drive thru, walk in only. It is a big cavernous space with plenty of open seating. If you need to seat a large group without a reservation, this place definitely works. The acoustics are rather echoing; so that can be a bit challenging, especially if it gets crowded. It doesn't have the cosy living room feel of many coffee shops, but it isn't unpleasant either. I like supporting local businesses, so I tend to come by here when I am looking for a place to meet someone that I don't know. This is a donut shop. I have never met a donut that I didn't like. There are also some breakfast type items as well. The ones I have tried tasted exactly as expected. There are all the usual options for coffee and chai or regular tea. Don't look for anything exotic though. I gave it 4 stars because I reserve 5 stars for places that can't possibly be improved. I would like this place better if the seating area was less cavernous and echoing. I would also like to have something exotic or unique on the drink menu. That said, I have absolutely no complaints. I am happy with the food. I am happy with the service. You will not say this is the most amazing coffee experience I have ever had, and you won't be disappointed either.

Hands down, the best donuts in Albuquerque! Destroys those other places that try to claim they make a great donut!

My daughter came home from Donut Mart with a variety of donuts. I tried several different ones and each was flavorful and delicious. We're tried a couple different donut places and we do like Donut Mart the best. We will be back for more.

Great donuts, great people! My wife and I make the 10+ mile drive because it's worth the trip.

Love coming here for donut dates and last minute pick ups. Always fresh and very yeasty they have never disappointed. Half dozen for $6?! I'll take it. Customer service as always been very friendly and helpful.

Lovely family owned business. Amazing bang for your buck here! Donuts are awesome but they also serve tea, coffee and breakfast bowls you can get w/out hash browns if your on a diet! Group of oldies meet here every morning, it reminds me of a small town coffee shop in the city. Lots of seating.
Donut Mart
Donut Mart at 4501 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuquerque, is your go-to spot for fresh, fluffy, and flavor-packed donuts that make mornings better and snack breaks irresistible. Whether you're craving a classic glazed or a maple bacon twist, this beloved neighborhood diner brings it all with a smile.
Donut Mart in Albuquerque that locals trust for quality donuts and friendly service
Step inside Donut Mart and you're immediately hit with the smell of freshly baked pastries. Locals in Albuquerque often refer to this place as more than just a donut shop — it’s a morning ritual. Nestled conveniently on Montgomery Blvd, Donut Mart combines cozy vibes with a rotating selection of house-made treats. The variety is impressive: old-fashioned cake donuts, pillowy yeast rings, and stuffed delights filled with Bavarian cream or raspberry jam. Regulars rave about the apple fritters and chocolate long johns, but if you’re into something savory, their breakfast burritos are the hidden gem. Open early, this spot is popular with commuters, families, and anyone looking for something made with care and consistency.
What makes Donut Mart a top choice for donut lovers
Beyond the sugar-coated treats, the reason people keep coming back is consistency and service. Every donut is made in-house daily, using recipes that focus on texture, flavor, and freshness. You won’t find mass-produced pastries here — what you’ll get instead is handcrafted quality with just the right balance of crunch and softness. Pair any selection with their locally brewed coffee, and you’ve got a breakfast that holds its own against any franchise chain. While the donuts are obviously the stars, the shop also offers croissants, sausage rolls, and bagels that make for a hearty start to the day. And the prices? Totally reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion size. The menu doesn’t overwhelm but covers all the bases — sweet, savory, warm, and satisfying.
A community spot where location and experience matter
Positioned close to both residential neighborhoods and key traffic routes, Donut Mart is perfectly placed for quick pit stops or slow weekend visits. Its central location in Northeast Albuquerque gives it easy access for early risers, school runs, and even folks grabbing a snack before heading into work downtown. There’s parking on-site, which is a blessing during busy morning hours, and the interior is clean, simple, and welcoming — with warm lighting and a display case that makes it hard to choose just one. Regulars love how the staff remembers their orders and how the coffee is always hot and strong. It’s the kind of place where people say good morning to each other even if they don’t know each other. That’s rare.
What guests say about their visit to Donut Mart
Customers online and in person frequently mention three things: the taste, the value, and the staff. Reviews often highlight the perfect glaze-to-dough ratio, the freshness of the toppings, and the soft interior of each pastry. Many also appreciate the old-school charm of the place — no over-the-top decor or gimmicks, just good food and welcoming service. One reviewer on Google noted, “The maple donut tastes like childhood, and the apple fritter is the best I’ve had in New Mexico.” Another added, “I stop by here three times a week and never leave disappointed. The staff are friendly, and the donuts are better than anywhere else in the city.” It’s that balance of flavor, price, and atmosphere that keeps Donut Mart ahead of newer, trendier shops.
So, if you’re in Albuquerque and looking for a place that delivers on both taste and tradition, Donut Mart is the name to remember. Whether it’s a quick grab-and-go or a sit-down bite with coffee, it’s the kind of spot that makes everyday moments feel just a little more special.
Good location, good coffee and friendly staff. Large selection and breakfast offered. The apple fritters are my favorite. Best in town
